Backers of the attraction, which will be built on former restaurant premises at the end of Town Quay, have already secured a prestigious collection of Titanic artefacts which will form part of the permanent exhibition.
Entitled “Titanic Honour and Glory”, the collection has so far been seen by more than two million people at venues all over the country and has been voted one of the UK’s top five exhibitions. Scheduled to open its doors by the end of the year or early 2010, the Ocean Liner Experience is set to be in operation two years ahead of the city council’s ambitious £15m maritime heritage centre.
