Agreed around the globe as one of the greatest songwriter of the 20th century and of course a member of most famous 60's pop group of all time, John Lennon was also known as an artist. Now a Hampshire village art gallery has struck a major coup by landing an exhibition of his artwork. Courcoux & Courcoux in Stockbridge High Street is staging the exhibition from September 5-23. Art by the former member of the Beatles, who was shot dead in New York in 1980, is rarely shown in this country, especially outside of the capital.

One of the originals on display may be offered for sale with a potential asking price of over £10,000. The gallery staged a show of John Lennons work way back in 2004 which attracted hundreds of people. Ian Courcoux from the gallery explained how the artwork was obtained: “I’m not blowing my own trumpet but I think we are regarded as one of the top regional art galleries. It will bring something fresh and a bit different to Hampshire. The last time we had a Lennon show here we were mobbed, which was great. The people coming were right across the spectrum."
