Job Creation In Fareham

A MULTI-MILLION pound makeover for a superstore has given a big jobs boost to a Hampshire town. More than 50 jobs will be created when Asda launches its new-look store in Fareham on June 29. The store, which is also celebrating its 21st birthday, is in the final stages of the massive improvements which are costing £7.3 million. A new mezzanine floor will house a massively expanded George clothing range, including the introduction of two new additions – Maternity and Petite.

The store’s cafĂ© will also be relocated onto the new upper floor. And the 24-hour Asda has carried out a large expansion in all ranges, including a brand new pharmacy, wider choices in food and general merchandise ranges.

The store’s general manager Mike Stafford said: “This has been such a big project and our customers have been really patient as we’ve worked round them to ensure that the store stayed open and caused minimum disruption.
