Seal Spotted Off Southampton

More local news from and around the Southampton area from Dibben and Dibben as passers by and dog walkers have been met by a great surprise visitor at a Hampshire beauty spot. Playing in the Solent close by Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, a grey seal has been keeping crowds entertained by swimming near the shoreline. The seal is believed to be the same one that has been spotted along the south coast.

Researchers this summer used mobile phone technology to track the Solent’s seal colony.

The five seals travelled to different parts of the coastline, with one going on a three-day trip to Worthing in Sussex and another regularly visiting Southampton docks, the River Hamble and Calshot.

An RSPCA spokeswoman advised people to keep their distance.
