More local news from in and around the Solent area from Dibben and Dibben as Cruising and racing yachtsmen and their crews from the Royal Southampton Yacht Club are planning to sail across the Solent this weekend for supper in Yarmouth . . . and anticipate raising at least £1,500 for the RNLI along the way.

The race-cum-rally on Saturday starts in the central Solent and is expected to take three hours. Destination is the Royal Solent Yacht Club at Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. There will be two handicap classes.

Sailing secretary for the Royal Southampton, Cathy Crawley said: 'The race/rally is open to RSYC members and their guests only and three quarters of the entry fee are donated to the RNLI. For those making their own way to Yarmouth, member Brian Hinde has devised a quiz to while away the journey.
