The Reverend Gary Keith, of All Saints Church in North Warnborough, has come to the aid of a pub landlady after she won a cruise in a church raffle.

Jo Fairhurst, who runs the pub, nearly gave up the prize because there was no one to run the pub while she was away. Mr Keith said working behind the bar would help him build relationships in the community.

He said: "The role of the parish priest is to serve the community and I'm always looking for new, innovative ways of doing that.

"The whole business of Christian ministry is about building relationships and one way of doing that is to get out in the community and talk to people. This is providing a great way to do that."
