Late Shopping

More local news from in and around the Hampshire area from Dibben and Dibben as late night shopping will start this week in a north Hampshire village for the run-up to Christmas. From now until Christmas, a total of nine retailers in Hartley Wintney plan to keep their doors open every Thursday until 7.30pm.

The plan follows a six-week trial in the village in May and June this year. Parish council events manager Peter Fountain was quoted as say “Really, this is for the High Street. It is to boost village life, boost trade and get people to return to village shopping.Village events like markets attract a lot of people but they tend not to spend a huge amount of money in the shops. This will hopefully attract workers who are coming home.”
