Award For Former Coastguard

More local news from the Solent area from Dibben and Dibben as a recently retired winchman from the Solent Coastguard has been made a Member of the British Empire. Terry Short retired from helicopter search and rescue earlier this year at the age of 65 and was given the award for his public and voluntary service.

He has spent 21 years with the Leeo n - t h e - S o l e n t Coastguard after moving from Shetland where he performed similar duties.

The coastguard’s UK helicopter search and rescue manager Ian McLuskie said: “Terry was a stalwart figure in search and rescue work and a terrific example to others in the profession over his many years of service. This recognition is extremely well deserved.”
